Al Dar Islands opens its doors for the start of the new 2010 season
While most of us have not being thinking about the beach life over the past few months, the management at Al Dar Islands have been busy getting the Sitra based beach Island resort in order and boy have they been busy.
For those who have been to this little Island beach resort in past, you are in for a big shock. The new white washed walls are the first things that grab your attention on the way in on the Al Dar sea taxi. On entry the reception point has been revamped and has an automatic gate that is opened with a security electronic sound giving you the feeling of a some what V.I.P entrance.
The front main beach has been extended and in pride of place are six shaded double beds on the waters edge that can be hired for the day and lots of sun loungers under plenty of individual shades that you can grab.
The stage area gives you an elevated view from the beach and is scattered with high tables and chairs and is a good spot to take a cocktail or two from the new drinks menu.
The bar and the two air conditioned restaurants (one non smoking) again are all in white with palm clad ceilings as is the huge outside BBQ area.
The menu has had a real change with fresh salads and hot Panini’s while at the weekends the BBQ chef cooks up a storm to order.
A new shower block has been built with changing rooms, in and outdoor showers and is right on the beach for de-sanding moments.
To the rear of the beach is a huge area for the beach volley court and children’s play area.
The new Al Dar policy is to limit its customers to 150 per day thus giving a level of service in a relaxed roomy environment. This being the case at the weekends you will have to arrive early as it is a first come first serve basis.
Another added benefit is that the Island will be open until 11pm on Thursdays and Fridays so a BBQ dinner on the beach followed by a Sheesha if that is your thing under the stars will soon be a must do night in Bahrain.
Jet Skis are being added for the sporty types and of course the Dolphin, Fishing and Pearl collecting trips are in full swing, you will need to book these well in advance as they are very popular.
So for 10bd per person you get your return sea taxi ride, entry to the Island and a sun lounger. The sea taxi runs as and when needed so no need to panic about missing one and waiting around.
Towel hire is available from the reception on the way in as is a small selection of sun block and other essential beach items.
Do not forget your I.D as this is needed for the coast guard point to get onto the sea taxi.
See You on the Beach!

Snorkel divers find pearl off Al Dar Island
MANAMA: A group of tourists out on a snorkelling trip off the Al Dar Islands yesterday found a large pearl, which they claim could be worth hundreds of dinars.
It was found by Island manager Mohammed Slaise on a pearl collecting trip run by Al Dar Islands.
"We have been going out with tourists for the last few years and have found some pearls," he told the GDN. "However, we have never found something so beautiful and big."
He said the six-carat pearl was of the 'tambool' variety.
"We have decided to present this find to our resort's owner, Shaikha Hind bint Salman Al Khalifa," he said.
The group of six Bahrainis were snorkel diving to the north east of Al Dar island itself. The pearl which is of 'Dana' size is yet to be valued.
The grandfather of one of the members, who belongs to Thawadi family, is said to have found the biggest pearl ever in Bahrain.
Pearl collecting is one of the many activities on offer on the island
